What feeling did you hope this would instill in your audience?

I hoped to instill a feeling of adventurousness into my audience.  This is a photo I took while wandering on the beach in Santa Cruz this winter.  The flower had washed on shore and it immediately reminded me of a note in a bottle, except whoever threw this flower into the water was not looking for help.  This relates to the quote because if you are simply wandering, but not lost, you wont be looking for someone to help you find your way home.

What does this quote mean to you?

This quote reminds me that if I am going through a point in my life where I’m not exactly sure where I am headed or what my end goal is in something, that I am not necessarily lost. From what I have learned, struggling and being confused are part of the learning process (at least for me) and I need to learn to embrace those moments. This is a quote from my favorite author, J. R. R. Tolkien in his series, “The Lord of the Rings”.

What font did you use to write out your quote?

I used a free downloaded font called “Questions Medium” that I found online. I used it because it wasn’t a perfectly crisp and clean looking font and it also wasn’t illegible.  It added a sense of the writing being just like any average persons handwriting.

What was your reason for adding your particular type of animation to your image?

I added the animation of the text coming in one word at a time as to not give the reader too much to look at during the gif.  I wanted it to be given in small pieces so that the reader could appreciate every part of the image, as well as the text.

How effective was your animated gif and demonstrating color and priming?

I used the tertiary colors yellow and green to make yellow-green which, in our society represents happiness and joy.  This feeling is something I wanted the viewer to feel when they looked at the black and white ocean which gave a sense of overwhelming mass, and having a small piece of happiness that found its way through all of that onto shore, wandering but not lost.

What are you happy with about your animated gif?

I’m happy with how the color turned out as well as the font.  I feel like they portray the feeling that I was going for in this week’s assignment.

What would you have done differently if you had more time/skills?

If I had more time and skills I would have probably made animated art on the image that moved with each slide.  I feel like the simplicity of the image and text better fits my quote.
