Assistant Professor of Visual Journalism at the Reynolds School, University of Nevada, Reno.
When I am not at work, I like to make stuff and hike in the Sierras with my dog.
My current research tracks theoretical and technological trends in the use of digital technology in higher education classrooms.
I also have a passionate research interest in tracking power relationships past and present through visual evidence.
For my PhD research, I wrote a history of governance in the State of Victoria, Australia, from first European settlement to the end of the twentieth century. This was an interdisciplinary political science and graphic design history, which made use of government emblems, seals, and logos as primary sources.
In Fall 2014, I'm teaching two classes of JOUR300 Visual Communication, one as an online subject, the other is a traditional face to face class.
This class teaches students some basics of visual literacy through a combination studying concepts from cognition and psychology, and making visual media using online tools.
